Sparklight® Donates Chromebooks to Summit Elementary School in Jerome, Idaho
February 15, 2023—Jerome, Idaho—In an effort to ensure students have the technological tools needed to be successful in school, Sparklight® recently donated 50 Chromebooks to Summit Elementary School in Jerome, Idaho.
Summit Elementary Principal Eva Meyerhoeffer said the Chromebooks will give students access to a wide array of online learning and educational resources.
“The donated Chromebooks from Sparklight make it possible for new students to have access to a computer as soon as they enroll and they will also enable us to replace older or damaged computers for existing students,” Meyerhoeffer said. “These Chromebooks provide students with access to online libraries to improve their reading, and online math websites to develop their knowledge of fact fluency. Students will also be able to view online experiments or participate in virtual field trips to historical sites too far away to visit in person.”
Over the past nine years, Sparklight has donated more than 2,600 Chromebooks to Title I schools and community centers in the markets they serve.
Sparklight General Manager Russ Young said the donation reflects Sparklight’s commitment to strengthening the community.
“Developing tech skills at this age prepares students for middle and high school as they experience more online learning opportunities as they get older,” Young said. “We recognize the critical importance that access to technology plays in helping ensure students achieve academic success, which benefits the communities where we live and work for the long-term.”
