Sparklight® Launches Symmetrical Gig Speed Internet,

Bringing Enhanced Connectivity to Sioux City, Surrounding Communities

November 6, 2024 – Sioux City, S.D. – Sparklight® is bringing 1 Gbps symmetrical internet speeds to Sioux City, North Sioux City, and Dakota Dunes, S.D.; Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and Dakota City and Sioux City, Neb., as part of its recently completed two-year, $13.3 million investment in local fiber infrastructure.

"As a provider deeply rooted in the Sioux City area, Sparklight remains committed to investing in innovative solutions that benefit our community," said Mike Drahota, Sparklight Senior Director, Regional Operations North Central. "With symmetrical speeds, customers can power smart-home devices, launch home-based businesses or enjoy next-level streaming and gaming experiences. With this launch, we are laying the foundation for future 10 Gbps speeds, ushering in a new era of connectivity and fueling economic growth throughout our communities."

The new 1 Gbps symmetrical internet service brings equally fast upload and download speeds, ideal for households that rely on high-performance connectivity for activities like streaming, video conferencing, and powering multiple smart devices. Earlier this year, Sparklight launched a 2 Gbps service, offering an ultra-fast option for customers seeking even greater speeds and seamless connectivity across all their devices.

Sparklight customers can also take advantage of intelligent, whole-home Wall-To-Wall Wi-Fi service, powered by the eero Pro 6E. Teaming up with eero, an Amazon company, Sparklight offers comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage throughout the home – regardless of size or shape, creating a wide-ranging signal that eliminates dead zones and intelligently routes traffic to optimize customers’ Wi-Fi service.

For over 45 years, Sparklight has been serving the Sioux City area, delivering ongoing technological advancements and supporting the community through philanthropic initiatives. Over the past four years, the company has awarded nearly $20,000 in grants to local charitable organizations, including the Siouxland Mental Health Helping Hands Program, Perry Creek Elementary PTA, Pier Center for Autism, Sunnybrook Hope Center, SafePlace and Hope Street of Siouxland. Sparklight also worked to bridge the digital divide through its donation of 50 Chromebooks to Sioux City area schools.
