Sparklight Selects Texarkana Non-Profit Opportunities, Inc.
to Receive $5,000 Donation
Aug. 20, 2020 – Texarkana, Texas – Texarkana non-profit organization, Opportunities, Inc., has been selected as one of three non-profits impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to receive a $5,000 donation from Sparklight, as part of the company’s Up for Any Challenge campaign.
Opportunities, Inc. serves children and adults with developmental disabilities, providing day services to children and adults, as well as a residential program for adult clients and the elderly.
“Sparklight is committed to giving back to the communities we serve, and we are both honored and humbled to support Opportunities, Inc. in its mission to empower and advocate for individuals with disabilities through respect and compassion,” said David Wall, Sparklight’s Texarkana General Manager.
According to its contest entry, Opportunities, Inc. closed its main campus on March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but quickly transitioned to home visits and Telehealth services. This allowed nearly 300 hours of Early Childhood Intervention services for children and families during the months of April through June.
Sherry Young, Executive Director of Opportunities, Inc. said the $5,000 donation from Sparklight will help fund the necessary PPE equipment her staff needs in order to care for residential clients, as well as transition back to day programs on campus.
“Due to the complex medical conditions, and in some cases age, our clients are at a higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19,” Young said. “Sparklight’s very generous gift will allow us to protect the health and safety of our clients and employees by providing PPE and professional coronavirus disinfecting services of our facilities.”
